Morehouse College Becomes Official Academic Partner of CMT Association.
Selection for the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program signifies a strong commitment to students’ career readiness and applied learning. Institutions in the Academic Partner Program demonstrate academic rigor in financial courses ranging from quantitative methodologies to behavioral finance, as well as portfolio management and other key aspects of technical analysis.
With this partnership, the two institutions illustrate an innovative solution to the growing demand for student education and career preparedness, while advocating for the advancement of technical analysis in higher education. A crucial part of investment and trading decisions, technical analysis has evolved dramatically since the first instance of market data visualization was conceived in Osaka, Japan hundreds of years ago. While modern technical analysis retains its roots in classical observations of market behavior, it extends beyond pattern recognition to employ groundbreaking quantitative methodologies and rules-based trading-system design and testing.
“We are thrilled to welcome Morehouse College into CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program.” said Tyler Wood, CMT, Executive Director & CEO of CMT Association. “This partnership marks a pivotal step in expanding the reach of technical analysis education. Representation on Wall St has been homogenous, but by connecting historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) with institutional investment professionals and the foundational tools and concepts needed for careers in asset management, we can provide meaningful pathways for future generations. By integrating technical analysis into their curriculum, Morehouse College is equipping the next generation of finance professionals with the tools and insights essential for navigating today’s complex markets. We are proud to collaborate with such a distinguished institution, and we look forward to seeing their students excel in the global financial landscape.”
Dr. Matthew Lutey, Assistant Professor of Finance, Morehouse College, said, “Students will learn applied technical analysis as a theme as well as topic in the investments class.
Some students are already familiar with topics of technical analysis and are eager to participate in the simulated investment challenge.”
