Over 200,000 Minnesota children were living in food insecurity before schools closed, before there were massive layoffs, and before we faced widespread closures and income losses in our community. The need for nutritious food has since skyrocketed, and will only continue to increase.
The Sheridan Story’s Coronavirus Response:
The Sheridan Story works to fight child hunger by filling the gaps to food access that children face during weekends, summers and extended breaks through school and community partnerships. With statewide school closures in Minnesota, The Sheridan Story has been urgently filling the largest food gap our community has faced. Since the coronavirus crisis began, weekly production has increased by 400% to provide 100,000 meals a week to children and families and over a million meals through the end of the school year.
Keeping Children Fed Through the Summer:
Food insecurity among children will almost certainly increase into the summer as the pandemic continues. Unfortunately, expected funding constraints would result in The Sheridan Story being forced to decrease meals provided by 92% to 7,500 meals a week. They need our help to prepare hundreds of thousands more meals to continue meeting the needs through the summer months. To learn more visit www.thesheridanstory.org/coronavirus.
Together, members, friends, and family of the Minnesota Chapter of the CMT Association (www.cmtassociation.org/chapter/minnesota) and the CFA Society of Minnesota (www.cfasociety.org/minnesota) are taking a heroic step towards ensuring children don’t go hungry in the summer. Right now members are matching all donations to The Sheridan Story – up to $500,000 – to help continue providing 100,000 meals a week during the summer.
The CMT Association strives to advance the discipline of technical analysis among industry professionals with diverse opportunities in continuing education, advocacy, ethics awareness, and networking.
