Equities Trader, Fidelity Canada Asset Management (“FCAM”) Our investment team generates investment ideas from around the world – in virtually every investment class and category – and our investment management and research capabilities are world-class. You'll be joining one of the largest and most accomplished teams of portfolio managers, analysts and traders in the industry. The trading desk will manage equity order flow and information for the Americas regions for both domestic and international portfolio managers. The desk trades equity and equity linked products including derivatives futures and ETFs. The trading desk is responsible for actively covering fund managers with value-added market insight to assist them in portfolio positioning and management. What You Will Do Reporting to the Head Trader Americas, the Equities Trader will be responsible for understanding liquidity in order to manage the risks and overall cost of implementing equity investment ideas. The high touch Equities trader is responsible for developing and maintaining service models for Portfolio Managers both locally and abroad, with a focus on Canadian portfolio managers and Canadian equity markets. Additionally, the trader will support and provide coverage for other members of the team to support US and Latin American trading as required. The trader is to focus on the acquisition and dissemination of non-commoditized market information. This includes liquidity, dislocations, upcoming events, and short interest dynamics with a view to how these factors may impact our products in the short to medium term. The trader will work closely with the local and international analyst teams to understand investment ideas and portfolio manager trade intentions. The trader is expected to develop and maintain relationships with key block and risk traders at brokers in order to manage alternative sources of liquidity. The high touch trader will also be a representative of the firm in broker relationships primarily based in both Toronto and New York.
  • Manage equity orders in line with our Global Best Execution Policy
  • Manage order flow and trade execution in Canada, US, and Latin America
  • Pro-actively cover Portfolio Manager and Analyst teams – using an in depth understanding of the Portfolio Managers funds and analyst research views
  • Develop and maintain an effective coverage model for assigned PMs and analysts
  • Utilize and continue to develop knowledge of equity trading, market structure and market challenges, advising Portfolio Managers on implementation of different trading strategies
  • Proactively engage with broker relationships and market participants
  • Protect and where possible enhance Fidelity’s reputation in the marketplace
  • Engage with TCA, quantitative inputs and technical analysis to reduce Fidelity trading costs where possible
  • Work effectively and professionally with the business partners of Global Equity Trading including compliance and risk management, IT systems, and other similar groups
  • Work such hours as required for coverage of assigned sectors, markets and Portfolio Managers
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Fidelity Global Trading Policies and Procedures, including MiFiD II obligations
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Fidelity’s best execution & order handling policies, including MiFiD II obligations
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the provisions of Fidelity’s Code of Ethics
  • Be aware of current Anti-Money Laundering requirements as they affect the business
