CMT Association is proud to announce its new partnership with American University’s Kogod School of Business through inclusion in the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program.

Selection for the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program signifies a strong commitment to students’ career readiness and applied learning. Institutions in the Academic Partner Program demonstrate academic rigor in financial courses ranging from quantitative methodologies to behavioral finance, as well as portfolio management and other key aspects of technical analysis.

With this partnership, the two institutions illustrate an innovative solution to the growing demand for student education and career preparedness, while advocating for the advancement of technical analysis. Technical analysis, which is a crucial part of investment and trading decisions, has evolved over hundreds of years. While modern technical analysis retains its roots in classical observations of market behavior, it extends beyond pattern recognition to employ groundbreaking quantitative methodologies and rules-based trading-system design and testing.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Kogod School of Business at American University into the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program. This partnership not only underscores the importance of technical analysis in modern finance but also empowers the next generation of financial professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in an increasingly complex investment landscape. By integrating rigorous technical analysis education into their curriculum, Kogod is helping to ensure that students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of today’s markets.” – Tyler Wood, CMT, CEO and Executive Director of CMT Association.

“Technical analysis is one of the four pillars of original research in the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) and the Nulsen Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) money management programs. The Kogod School of Business and CMT Academic Partnership allows students interested in technical analysis to earn scholarships to study a specialized curriculum, sit for the CMT Level 1 professional certification exam, and gain a competitive advantage in the job market.” – Timothy Timura, Department of Finance and Real Estate, Kogod School of Business.
