New York, September 20, 2021 – The CMT Association is proud to announce its new partnership with Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada through NAIT Finance Program’s inclusion in the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program.
Selection for the CMT Association’s Academic Partner Program signifies a strong commitment to students’ career readiness and applied learning. Institutions in the Academic Partner Program demonstrate academic rigor in financial courses ranging from quantitative methodologies to behavioral finance, as well as portfolio management and other key aspects of technical analysis.
With this partnership, the two institutions illustrate an innovative solution to the growing demand for student education and career preparedness, while advocating for the advancement of technical analysis in Canada.
Technical analysis, which is a crucial part of investment and trading decisions, has evolved over hundreds of years. While modern technical analysis retains its roots in classical observations of market behavior, it extends beyond pattern recognition to employ groundbreaking quantitative methodologies and rules-based trading-system design and testing.
Dr. Anna Beukes PhD, Faculty and Former Chair of the Finance Program at NAIT commented, “This is such awesome news! This is a real achievement!! For the program and school to remain relevant/competitive we have to continue to respond to industry needs and student demands in a way that shows academic rigor – a partnership with the CMT does all that. Technical analysis is a sought-after skill set at the moment. Proud to be part of a program that is leading the way in the field of Technical Analysis.”
Mark Slanina MBA, part of the faculty in the Finance Program at NAIT said, “We are pleased to be in a partnership with the CMT Association. This extra level of documented competency will be greatly beneficial to our finance students interested in trading various assets.”
Eric Peddie CFA, Chair of Finance Program Advisory Committee at NAIT added, “Congratulations to NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business for initiating an academic partnership with the CMT Association. This is another exciting new opportunity launched by NAIT, giving its students the ability to enhance their education and career skills by joining a global organization of technical analysis experts. The pursuit of the Chartered Market Technician designation will give NAIT students another leg up versus peers in their hunt for great careers!”
And lastly, Tyler Wood, Managing Director of Global Business Development at the CMT Association added, “We are thrilled to partner with NAIT to help prepare students in two ways: to improve their discipline investment analysis process, and to open career opportunities for aspiring professionals in the financial services industry.”
