Jack Cahn, who holds the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation, trained under George Constantine and Robert Farrell at Merrill Lynch in the late 70s before joining midwest regional broker R. Rowland & Company where he was head of technical market research until 1989, when he left to form his own firm. Today, Jack runs that company under the brand of Thinking Man’s Trader (TMTraders) for individuals and Contrary Thinker for professionals.
More recently, Jack developed a new approach to Technical Analysis and price-based strategy development. In 2016 he introduced this method of context-based analysis in a seminar at the local Brisbane chapter of the Australian Association of Technical Analysis.
TMTraders produces 100% price-based analytical publications, strategies and products including a market scenario planner, “MarketMap.” ContraryThinker publishes “Volatility Reports” for risk/reward rankings, algorithmic trading signals of the major liquid markets and custom work for its professional clients.
Jack is working on his master’s degree in journalism part time at the University of Queensland on the Sunshine coast (USC); he is a dual citizen and resides in the USA and Australia.
