Joe Granville was a market analyst who published The Granville Market Letter from 1963 until his death in 2013. Joe popularized on balance volume and other technical indicators. In Nobel Prize winning economist Robert Shiller’s book, Irrational Exuberance, Shiller notes Granville’s market calls were credited with causing large moves of more than 4% in the Dow Jones Industrial Average on April 22, 1980 and in January 1981.
Dr. Jerry Blythe was a close friend of Joe Granville for a number of years. Dr. Blythe worked in the investment field in the 1970s and 1980s as founder and chief investment officer of Blythe Investment Counsel when he met Mr. Granville. He provided quantitative work for Joe from the 1990s. Dr. Blythe is a medical doctor, directed an industrial trauma clinic, is an avid runner, and currently is the founder and CEO of Fybrinet Inc., a new enterprise in polymer chemistry.
