Louis Spector serves as the Curriculum Director for the CMT Association, where he led the rewrite and launch of the 2025 digital curriculum and continues to steward its ongoing development. He serves as a staff liaison to both the Admissions Committee and the Curriculum and Test Committee, as well as co-chairs the New York City Chapter, helping to expand and strengthen the community of technical analysts.
In addition, Louis works for a boutique wealth management firm in Bergen County, New Jersey, where he runs rules-based portfolios and serves as the firm’s technician.
Louis developed his technical analysis expertise through years of deeply committed study and hands-on experience. Driven by a passionate curiosity and commitment to excellence, he dedicated thousands of hours to studying the curriculum, reading source materials, conducting and consuming research, engaging with expert practitioners, and analyzing hundreds of price charts every week. This led him to delve deeper into certain areas of interest such as statistics, behavioral finance, portfolio construction, and momentum investing. He continues to explore the boundaries of his knowledge by staying current with the latest technical analysis research and methods.
Louis holds degrees in both philosophy and education giving him a strong foundation in both critical thinking and instructional design, a Six Sigma Green-Belt certification from the New York Institute of Technology, a certificate in financial modeling using Microsoft Excel from New York University, and the prestigious Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designation, which represents the most coveted technical analysis education worldwide.
Outside of work, Louis enjoys reading, spending time with friends, identifying types of trees, and synoptic-scale weather forecasting.
