Frequently Asked Questions and Tutorial
The official CMT Body of Knowledge (BoK), also known as the curriculum, is a completely digital experience. It is offered online in a Learning Management System (LMS), which has replaced physical books. A printed version of the BoK is unavailable.
While this might initially raise some concerns or objections, the LMS is rather intuitive and can be used to effectively study, learn, and pass the exams. The LMS, unlike a book, includes tools and features which can be used to personalize and enhance the studying experience. Use these built-in tools to get the most out of studying.
Accessing the LMS
After registering for an exam, the candidate is emailed a welcome letter with a link to schedule their exam and access the BoK.
Once logged in to the CMT Association’s website, www.cmtassociation.org, the BoK can be accessed from the “MyCMT” tab by clicking on the “CMT Curriculum” tab in the left column and then the “CMT Curriculum” button in the right column.

Table of Contents
Just like a book, each level of the curriculum has a table of contents. The LMS is organized into levels, sections, units, and topics.
To navigate the curriculum, use the dropdown menu in the top-left corner to move across levels (if enrolled in level II or III), and use the addition signs (+) on the right to expand the table contents and move within a level. Click on the desired topic to view and study. It is also possible to click “Expand all” or “Collapse all.” The level number is the exam being studied for. This means when preparing for an exam, there is theoretically no need to navigate across levels. Exam content will only be generated from material in the specific level being studied for.

Navigation and Progress Tracking
This is the view inside a topic, where the actual material to be studied is presented. The candidate can navigate the BoK using the left and right arrows to move between successive topics, click the “Table of Contents” tab to return to the Table of Contents, or use the dropdown to navigate to any section, unit, or topic in the level.

To continue to the next topic, the candidate clicks the “Continue” button; however, this is only possible after rating their confidence level about the topic’s material by selecting the “High”, “Medium”, or “Low” button.
Rating the confidence level after reading each topic is not only a way to navigate to the next topic. It also communicates progress to the LMS. Clicking a rating button indicates to the LMS that a candidate has completed reading a topic. This is how study progress is tracked. Progress is marked by topics read, not by pages.
To track progress, select “User Portal” after clicking on the down arrow in the top-right corner. This links to “My Learning Page.” From the My Learning Page, the candidate can navigate across the levels (if enrolled in level II or III) and track their progress in percentage terms. Clicking on the “View Details” button will show progress in greater detail.

Using Learning Tools
The LMS offers tools that can aid and personalize the study experience. These include the Highlighter, Bookmark, Notes, and Search tools.
Highlighter
The Highlighter tool functions like a trusty highlighter. Any portion of text can be selected and highlighted. It will remain highlighted, even if you close the course.
To highlight text, a candidate should select the portion of text they want to highlight, and then click on the highlight selection icon, or press Alt+H on their keyboard (Option+H on Macs).
To erase a highlight, a candidate should select the highlighted portion of text and then click on the remove highlight icon or press Shift+Alt+H on the keyboard (Shift+Option+H on Macs).
Selecting the “Highlights” tab at the top of the page will show everything that has been highlighted, organized by section, unit, and topic.
Bookmark
The Bookmark tool functions like a favorite bookmark. A candidate can use this tool to save a page to return to later, just as they would place a bookmark in your book. Multiple bookmarks can be placed.
To place a bookmark, the candidate should click on the bookmark icon. Selecting the “Bookmarks” tab at the top of the page will show a list of all bookmarked pages.

Notes
The Notes tool allows candidates to take notes directly related to the topic you are studying. To add a note, click on the pen icon, type the note, and then click “Add.” Selecting the “Notes” tab at the top of the page will show a list of all notes taken.
It is highly recommended that candidates take notes on their own machine and back them up regularly to prevent them from being lost.

Search
The Search tool functions like a super-powered book index. It returns a list of every instance where the word or phrase appears. It searches all sections, units, and topics in the level.
To access the Search tool, the candidate should click on the “Table of Contents” tab at the top of the screen to return to the Table of Contents. The Search tool is located there. After running a search, the candidate can click on the “Study” button to be taken directly to the topic where the word or phrase is mentioned.

Submitting Feedback
As candidates study and learn, there might come a time when they notice a typo, incorrect formula, or something else. Please report these by clicking on the “Report Content Errors” button at the bottom of each topic.
The “Report Content Errors” button opens a menu where the candidates can choose the “Issue Type” from the dropdown box, type their feedback in the description box, and then click the “Submit” button.

By embracing the digital experience and making full use of the available features, success becomes more attainable. With consistent effort and dedication, understanding the BoK and reaching one’s goals is within reach. The CMT Association is committed to promoting growth and achievement for all candidates.
