Gregory L. Morris currently works as a consultant in the field of technical analysis and money management. Greg has been a technical market analysis for over 40 years and has been enjoying semi-retired life since 2014. Recently, Greg has been writing a blog for StockCharts.com called Dancing with the Trend. He also updated his book, The Complete Guide to Market Breadth Indicators.
Previously, Greg was the Sr. Vice President, Chief Technical Analyst, and Chairman of the Investment Committee for Stadion Money Management, LLC. He still serves as the chairman of the Station Trust Board. Greg educates institutional and individual clients on the merits of technical analysis and why he utilizes a technical rules-based trend-following model. Until he retired, Greg oversaw the management of over $5.5B in assets in six mutual funds, separate accounts, and retirement plans at Stadion, as well as at the MurphyMorris ETF.
Greg recently published his fourth book, Investing with the Trend – A Rules-based Approach to Money Management, about the flaws of modern finance, research on risk and trend analysis, and how to build a rules-based trend-following model. His Japanese Candlestick Pattern Recognition software for MetaStock not only offers automatic identification of real patterns, but provides a sophisticated trend analysis measure and automatic support and resistance identification.
Greg is a member of the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM) where he currently chairs the Wagner Paper Contest, the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts (AAPTA), and the CMT Association. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1971 with a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering. Greg has authored numerous investment-related articles, speaks at numerous seminars and investment groups, and has appeared many times on the Financial News Network (FNN), Fox Business, CNBC, and Bloomberg TV. He has been featured in a variety of industry publications including Barron’s, BusinessWeek and Bloomberg, and has lectured in seven countries on the merits of technical market analysis. From 1971 to 1977, he was a Navy F-4 fighter pilot aboard the USS Independence who was selected for, and graduated from, the Navy Fighter Weapons School known as Top Gun. Greg and his wife, Laura, live in the mountains of North Georgia.
