Malik King, who holds a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation, is a Vice President covering Macro Strategy and Technicals in the Desk-Based Analytics group at Barclays Capital in New York. Malik has over 10 years of experience with technicals and macro market analysis. He began doing macro/multi-sector strategy and analysis in various capacitites as a Technical Trading Analyst since 1999, and has a strong track record of macro technical trading calls going back to 2000. In addition to technical work, he has a background as a fundamental desk analyst, having covered all sectors for two years on the derivatives desk and specialized exclusively in Telecom/Media for an additional three. He also has extensive experience with derivatives, particularly formulating options trades for specific fundamental viewpoints. He has both a CFA and a CMT, and has also presented on a variety of non-technicals topics such as the “Convergence of Old and New Media and Communication Platforms,” and “Value vs. Growth Strategies for a Volatile Market.” Malik has a BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT and an MBA with Distinction from the University of Michigan. Prior to business school, he worked in strategy and private equity consulting from ’97-’99, before starting King Investors, Inc., an investment research firm publishing technical analysis-based market commentary targeted towards trading.
