About the Presentation: It is no small task for a Portfolio Manager (PM) to develop a comprehensive investment process, one that is capable of integrating top-down market context and environmental changes balanced with bottom-up stock and security decisions, and yet still consider technological and analytical innovations. How can new ideas be contemplated, and should a discretionary process be abandoned in favour of an automated one? Or is there a middle ground where technology can be used to leverage the skill and tools of technical analysis with the experience of the Portfolio Manager?

In this presentation, David will share what he has learned over many years working as a PM, including his routines that contribute to keeping a #marketpulse and how he uses charts and the tools of technical analysis to manage portfolios in realtime. Mathew will share the foundations of quantitative analysis and together, David and Mathew will unpack how quant analysis can be used to confirm and enhance a professional process. Finally, they will answer the question “Can a quant process replace a Portfolio Manager?”
