2023: Regime Shift – The Evolution of Technical Analysis

The global economy is accelerating into a new paradigm. As treasury yields reach a generational inflection point, financial markets unwind a decade of risk-on allocation and geopolitical tensions dominate news headlines. Supply-chain disruptions in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic have spawned a political shift away from multi-decade trends towards interconnected globalized markets. The long-term implications of onshoring are still yet to be fully understood or priced in, investors are searching for processes and tools to capture alpha while mitigating trade risk.

Technical analysis shines in periods of market adversity and volatility. The discipline forged by studying price action, market cycles, human behavior, and the irrefutable laws of supply and demand are an investor’s best weapon for uncertain times.

The CMT Association hosted the 2023 Symposium in Midtown Manhattan on April 26-28, 2023. Financial professional from around the globe convened in New York in celebration of the rich 50-year history of service on Wall St. Symposium sessions dove deep into the essential elements of technical analysis and how to apply to modern market challenges.
